CTE has been a client of the Alabama SBDC at Alabama State University since 2011. Since that time the client has received one-on-one counseling and technical assistance in the following categories: small business certifications (DBE, MBE, 8a); and proposal development workshops and business matchmakers.
As a result, CTE has been able to create 15 new jobs during this reporting period. Eugene Tinker, Jr. is the CEO of Certified Technical Experts (CTE), a certified small 8(a) Technology and Medical consulting firm with operating headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama. Raised in a small town of Sawyerville, AL. He grew up in a close-knit family and he has the utmost respect for his mother. Faith, determination, and a strong work ethic are all character traits Mr. Tinker has been able to build and sustain along the way as he built CTE from the ground up. Starting in August of 2011, Mr. Tinker, CEO and his VP Mr. Keith Ellis began participating in the Next Level Entrepreneurial University with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Alabama State University. CTE, has taken advantage of the plethora of opportunities for training and business development with the ASU SBDC.
In February of 2013 and 2015, the company utilized Gulf Shore Procurement Opportunity Matchmaker. Most recently Mr. Tinker, in April of 2015 we participated in the Alabama NASA
Procurement Suppliers Conference sponsored by ASU SBDC and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. Tinker holds two associate degrees from Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, AL where he met an influential professor who instilled a passion for life and hard work in Information Technology. Later on, he also earned a degree in business administration from Faulkner University. Initially, CTE was afforded an opportunity to work as a subcontractor on several projects, eventually turning contacts into contracts with the US Air Force, Navy, SPAWAR, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta. CTE also prides itself on community service and involvement. Each year, the company sponsors a Back to School Festival at Jay’s Farm in Sawyerville, AL, providing students with backpacks and school supplies while promoting positive, successful school years through his non-profit, “Positive Is the Way to Live.” Additionally, for the past three years, Mr. Tinker has provided scholarships and laptops for valedictorians and salutatorians of the Hale County, AL school system. His passion for reaching the youth and making a difference is also highlighted through CTE’s internship program, which allows students from various colleges, and even some area high schools, to explore the IT field, getting hands-on experience. Certified Technical Experts realizes the opportunity to bring employment, helping others achieve goals and making a difference in our communities as a priority.
