Alabama SBDC releases 2018 Economic Impact snapshot
The 2018 Impact Snapshot highlights the economic impacts achieved by the Alabama SBDC Network, including over 200 new business starts, almost 1,200 new jobs, over $72 million in funding for small businesses, and $324 million in government contracts.
The purpose of the report is to provide an overview of how the SBDC stimulates Alabama’s economy by supporting small business and entrepreneurship.
The Alabama SBDC Network offers high-quality technical assistance to existing and aspiring small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Alabama, at no cost to the client. America’s SBDC is the largest provider of management and technical assistance for small businesses in the United States, and the Alabama SBDC is a member of that network.
The Alabama SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA, hosted by the University of Alabama, and is supported by eight participating institutions of higher education. Established in 1980, the program has grown to 10 full-time locations- with 40 outreach locations- strategically located to service all 67 counties. The program offers an array of specialized consulting services including capital access, international trade, government contracting, and business continuity / disaster preparedness.
