Emily Moore – 40 Under 40 Award
A member of the Alabama Small Business Development Center at The University of Alabama received national recognition for leadership in helping small businesses start and grow.
Emily Moore was selected by the America’s SBDC national association as the winner of its Top 40 Under 40 designation from among small business advisors across the country. Forty individuals were selected for their exceptional business acumen, innovative thinking and commitment to driving growth and success. The winners were celebrated at a reception during the 44th annual America’s SBDC Conference at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville in September.
“Congratulations to Emily for this well-deserved recognition. She clearly represents the professionalism and expertise of the entire Alabama SBDC team,” said Dan Blakley, associate vice president for economic and business engagement. “The Alabama SBDC continues to positively impact the lives of business owners and employees across the state. The work that Emily and the Alabama SBDC team do every day is clearly aligned with service mission of The University of Alabama, and we are proud to serve as the host institution.”
Based at the Birmingham SBDC office located at the Innovation Depot, Moore serves as research director and finance specialist with the SBDC’s Capital Access Program team. Moore prepares detailed feasibility studies, financial analyses and project finance proposals that help small business clients secure funding and investment. Over the last five years, the CAP team helped Alabama’s entrepreneurs secure over $546 million in growth capital.
“Emily has certainly earned this recognition. She is results-oriented and passionately committed to providing innovative and well-researched solutions for Alabama’s entrepreneurs,” said Bill Cummins, executive state director of the Alabama SBDC.
Moore joined the UA SBDC in August 2015. She has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor from the UA School of Law. She holds a certified technology consultant credential from the University of Houston and is a member of the Florida Bar.
